WASHINGTON — U.S. President Donald Trump has dismissed reports claiming he is mediating a ceasefire between Iran and Israel, stating he is focused on achieving a “real end” to the ongoing conflict, not a temporary truce.
Speaking to reporters during a campaign event in Florida, Trump said he is not engaged in any formal negotiations with either side. He labeled recent claims of behind-the-scenes diplomatic efforts as “fake news.”
“I’m not working on a ceasefire. I’m working on a real solution—one that ends the killing and chaos for good,” Trump said.
Trump criticized current international efforts that, in his view, only aim to “pause the war” without addressing its root causes. He urged both Tehran and Tel Aviv to pursue a long-term solution through strategic diplomacy and regional security arrangements.
“The world doesn’t need a timeout—it needs a win for peace. That’s what I’m interested in,” he added.
The ongoing Iran-Israel conflict has intensified over the past week, with missile strikes, drone attacks, and assassinations of senior Iranian military leaders, raising alarms across the international community.
Despite speculation that Trump may step in as a negotiator due to his prior relationships with both nations during his presidency, he emphasized that any U.S. leadership role should prioritize finality, not delay.
