Trump reiterates desire for U.S. Control of Gaza
U.S. President Donald Trump on Monday proposed that the United States should take control of the Gaza Strip, describing the war-torn territory as a key strategic asset that could be turned into a zone of peace under American governance.
During a high-profile meeting at the White House with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Trump floated the controversial idea of American-led administration in Gaza, suggesting it would bring lasting stability to a region long plagued by conflict.
> “A U.S. peacekeeping presence managing Gaza could transform it into a secure and prosperous area,” Trump said during the joint press event.
Trump also proposed relocating Gaza’s 2.1 million residents to other nations, suggesting international partners could absorb the displaced population. Human rights organizations and legal experts swiftly condemned the suggestion, warning that **forced population transfer violates international law and could be classified as a war crime.
> “If other countries help resettle Palestinians, we can create a safe zone where civilians aren’t under threat daily,” Trump added.
Reflecting on Israel’s 2005 disengagement from Gaza, Trump questioned the decision to vacate the territory, calling it a “prime coastal location” that could be redeveloped under U.S. stewardship.
> “They gave up beachfront land hoping for peace — but peace never came,” he said. “With American guidance, that region could become something remarkable.”
