Trump Set to Speak with Putin on Ukraine Ceasefire and Trade
Report by Safarti Tarjuman International Desk
U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that he will hold a phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday to discuss a possible Ukraine ceasefire proposal and bilateral trade matters. The statement was made through a series of social media posts on Saturday, where Trump also reignited controversy by attacking major retailer Walmart and reviving long-debunked conspiracy theories against Hillary Clinton.
Trump’s message indicated that the conversation with Putin would focus on “ending the war in Ukraine quickly and fairly” and restoring disrupted trade ties between Washington and Moscow. The proposed ceasefire talks come as fighting continues in eastern Ukraine despite international efforts for de-escalation.
In the same string of posts, Trump accused Walmart of price gouging, blaming the company for “hurting American families” through what he described as “artificially inflated prices.” The retail giant has not issued an official response.
Trump also used the platform to promote conspiracy theories involving former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, repeating claims that have been widely debunked and discredited by U.S. intelligence agencies and bipartisan investigations.
