U.S. President Donald Trump revealed Wednesday that he had advised Israel against launching a military operation on Iran, citing what he called a nearly finalized nuclear agreement that could bring regional tensions under control.

Addressing reporters at a White House press briefing, Trump said the proposed deal would give American inspectors full access to Iranian nuclear facilities — a move aimed at verifying Iran’s compliance and preventing nuclear weapons development.

“We’re very close to a comprehensive agreement,” said Trump. “I told Israel not to engage militarily, because this deal could be concluded within weeks.”

At the heart of the deal is a provision allowing direct U.S. inspections of Iranian nuclear sites — a departure from the existing International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) protocol. Trump emphasized that the agreement would empower the U.S. to inspect, dismantle, or disable any suspicious site without risking lives.

“We can inspect, neutralize, even destroy potential threats — all without anyone getting hurt,” he stated.

In response, Iran’s nuclear chief Mohammad Eslami said Tehran is prepared to accept U.S. inspections but will not surrender its sovereign right to enrich uranium. “We’re open to inspections, but we won’t depend on foreign uranium imports,” Eslami asserted.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi added fuel to the debate after responding to UK Ambassador to Washington Peter Mandelson’s reported comments supporting a “zero enrichment” policy.
