Trump Warning Houthis of ‘Complete Annihilation’ as U.S. Airstrikes Hit Yemen

President Donald Trump issued a stern warning to Yemen’s Houthi rebels, vowing their “complete annihilation” as U.S. airstrikes continued pounding Houthi-controlled areas, including Sanaa and Saada.

The al-Masirah satellite news channel, linked to the Houthis, confirmed that multiple strikes hit Yemen’s capital Sanaa and their stronghold in Saada late Wednesday night. Additional strikes reportedly took place on Tuesday night, though the U.S. military has not disclosed details on specific targets since the latest offensive began.

In a statement on Truth Social, Trump boasted about the “tremendous damage” inflicted on the Houthis, warning that the situation “will get progressively worse” and claiming the rebels “will be completely annihilated.”

Amid the military escalation, Trump also renewed pressure on Iran, accusing Tehran of supplying weapons to the Houthis. Without providing evidence, he claimed that Iran had begun scaling back its military support for the rebels but demanded that it “stop the sending of these supplies IMMEDIATELY.” The Iranian government has yet to respond to these allegations.

While Iran denies arming the Houthis, independent military reports and UN weapons seizures have linked Iranian-made missiles and drones to the group. Experts suggest Tehran avoids openly acknowledging its support to dodge international sanctions tied to the UN arms embargo on the Houthis.

The Houthi rebels have carried out over 100 attacks on merchant vessels in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden since November 2023, leading to the sinking of two ships and the deaths of four sailors. Their campaign gained regional attention, particularly amid the Gaza ceasefire negotiations, shifting focus away from human rights concerns linked to their governance.

As tensions escalate, the U.S. military continues its airstrike campaign, while Trump signals an even harsher response if attacks on commercial shipping persist.
