WASHINGTON — In a late-night address and a strongly worded social media post, President Donald Trump warned Iran that any retaliation for the U.S. airstrikes on Iranian nuclear sites will be met with overwhelming force. The warning followed a series of coordinated attacks by the U.S. and Israeli militaries targeting Iran’s key nuclear enrichment facilities in Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan.
Shortly after addressing the nation, President Trump took to Truth Social with a blunt message
“ANY RETALIATION BY IRAN AGAINST THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA WILL BE MET WITH FORCE FAR GREATER THAN WHAT WAS WITNESSED TONIGHT.”
During his White House address, Trump praised the American and Israeli forces involved in the operation, highlighting the mission’s complexity and success.
“There is no military in the world that could have done what we did tonight,” Trump said. He praised the precision and professionalism of the American aircrews, calling the joint strikes an example of unmatched operational excellence.
The president clarified that the operation’s goal was to dismantle Iran’s nuclear enrichment capabilities and halt what he called “a grave nuclear threat.”
“Our objective was the destruction of Iran’s nuclear enrichment capacity and a stop to the nuclear threat posed by the world’s number one state sponsor of terror,” Trump said, reinforcing his administration’s long-held stance that a nuclear-armed Iran is unacceptable.
Trump added that Iran’s history of hostility toward the U.S. and its allies—including support for militant proxies and past attacks on American personnel—justified the operation.
Trump also recalled the targeted 2020 airstrike that killed Iranian General Qasem Soleimani, reaffirming that such measures were taken to protect American lives and prevent Iran from achieving nuclear weapons capability.
