Turkiye and PBM Provide Ramazan Food Aid to 1,500 Families in Pakistan
Report by Syed Farzand Ali
In a humanitarian gesture reflecting the strong brotherly ties between Turkiye and Pakistan, Ambassador Irfan Neziroglu and Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal (PBM) Managing Director Senator Captain (R) Shaheen Khalid Butt jointly distributed Ramazan food assistance to 1,500 deserving families in Islamabad.
The initiative, backed by the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA), aimed to support vulnerable communities during the holy month. TIKA Country Head, Ms. Saliha Tuna, was also present at the event. The distributed food packages included staple essentials such as rice, wheat flour, lentils, chickpeas, cooking oil, sugar, tea, and dates to help families sustain themselves throughout Ramazan.
Ambassador Neziroglu emphasized Turkiye’s commitment to humanitarian efforts in Pakistan, highlighting TIKA’s extensive welfare initiatives over the past 15 years, with over 100 completed projects in various sectors. He also expressed gratitude for Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s solidarity visit to Turkiye after last year’s earthquake, reinforcing the strong bilateral partnership.
PBM Managing Director Shaheen Khalid Butt extended appreciation to TIKA and the Turkish government for their continuous support in social protection and poverty alleviation. He reaffirmed that Pakistan and Turkiye’s relationship is built on shared values, mutual respect, and unwavering solidarity.
As part of the event, the Turkish delegation visited PBM’s Women Empowerment Centres (WECs), where they admired intricate handmade embroidery products crafted by Pakistani women. Ambassador Neziroglu pledged to promote these artisanal products within Turkiye, fostering further collaboration in vocational training and women’s skill development.
The PBM-TIKA partnership continues to play a crucial role in uplifting marginalized communities in Pakistan, reaffirming the historic friendship between the two nations and their commitment to social welfare and humanitarian assistance.
