Islamabad — Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met with U.S. Acting Ambassador Natalie Baker in Islamabad on Thursday to discuss bilateral relations, counter terrorism, and counter narcotics cooperation, reaffirming both countries’ commitment to peace and regional stability.
During the meeting, Ambassador Baker congratulated Minister Naqvi on being awarded the Nishan-e-Imtiaz, praising his services to Pakistan. She also conveyed her condolences over the loss of lives caused by recent flash floods and heavy rains in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, extending sympathies to the affected families.
Minister Naqvi praised U.S. President Donald Trump’s efforts for sustainable global peace, noting his role in ending conflicts, including hostilities between Pakistan and India. “By stopping wars, President Trump has served humanity,” Naqvi said. He also voiced optimism that Trump’s ongoing peace initiatives in Ukraine and Gaza would succeed.
Ambassador Baker reaffirmed the United States’ commitment to Pakistan, calling Islamabad “an important friend” and stressing Washington’s resolve to strengthen bilateral engagement across multiple sectors.
The meeting underscored the shared Pakistan–U.S. commitment to peace, security, and stability in the region, with both sides expressing readiness to deepen cooperation in counter terrorism, counter narcotics, and broader strategic engagement.
