The United States has blacklisted 26 entities accused of supporting the weapons and drone development programs in Pakistan and Iran. The U.S. Department of Commerce stated that these companies were found to be violating export controls, participating in sensitive weapons programs, and evading U.S. sanctions on Russia and Iran.
According to the Commerce Department, most of these entities are based in Pakistan, China, and the United Arab Emirates. The department reported that seven companies acted as procurement agents, allegedly aiding Pakistan’s ballistic missile program, while others were involved in transactions with China, the UAE, and Egypt.
Assistant Secretary for Export Enforcement, Matthew Axelrod, explained that the sanctions aim to curb the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction (WMD) and unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) programs. He emphasized that foreign entities found violating U.S. laws would face severe consequences.
Assistant Secretary for Export Administration, Thea Rozman Kendler, noted that the ballistic missile programs of Iran and the South Asian country pose a threat to U.S. national security, and no American technology will be allowed to support them.
U.S. Under Secretary for Industry and Security, Alan Estevez, reiterated that the U.S. remains vigilant in protecting national security from unscrupulous elements and is prepared to take swift action when necessary.
