U.S.-Russia Talks on Ukraine Conflict Set for Monday in Saudi Arabia
The United States and Russia will hold high-level negotiations on Monday in Saudi Arabia to discuss the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and maritime security in the Black Sea.
Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov confirmed that the talks will focus on ensuring safe navigation and implementing a 30-day pause in Russian attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. Ushakov also revealed that he recently spoke with U.S. National Security Adviser Mike Waltz to finalize details.
The Russian delegation will be led by Grigory Karasin, chairman of the Federation Council’s International Affairs Committee, and Sergei Beseda, an advisor to the head of Russia’s FSB security service. Both officials have played key roles in past negotiations related to Ukraine.
The White House previously stated that Presidents Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin agreed to initiate “technical negotiations” aimed at de-escalating tensions and securing vital shipping routes in the Black Sea.
While initial reports suggested the meeting would take place in Jeddah on Sunday, Kremlin officials have now confirmed the venue has been shifted to Riyadh, with talks scheduled for Monday.
The outcome of this negotiation could be crucial for regional stability and ongoing ceasefire efforts.
