The UAE has announced a cabinet reshuffle, including the creation of a new Family Ministry. The reshuffle, directed by President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and announced by Vice President, Prime Minister, and Dubai Ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, also involves the elevation of the Community Development Ministry to the Community Empowerment Ministry.
The newly established Family Ministry will be led by Sana Suhail, a prominent figure with extensive experience in early childhood development, family welfare, and supporting people of determination. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid emphasized that family remains a national priority, central to the nation’s progress and future. The new ministry will focus on developing policies, legislation, and programs to address challenges related to family formation, growth, and cohesion in the UAE.
Speaking about the importance of the new ministry, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid stated, “Family is a national priority, the cornerstone of our progress, and the foundation of our nation’s future.” He highlighted the UAE President’s call during recent Annual Government Meetings to initiate national programs to empower families and strengthen their stability.
In addition to the Family Ministry, the cabinet reshuffle also includes the transformation of the Community Development Ministry into the Community Empowerment Ministry, under the leadership of Shamma bint Suhail Al Mazrui. This ministry will focus on an integrated community empowerment model that aims to boost community participation, improve the quality of life for low-income families, and promote their financial independence.
Furthermore, the Education, Human Development and Community Development Council, led by Abdullah bin Zayed and Mariam bint Mohamed bin Zayed, will oversee the alignment of the family and community empowerment initiatives, ensuring that these programs integrate seamlessly with education and human development strategies across the nation.
