Sharjah, UAE — The United Arab Emirates, Pakistan, and Afghanistan will compete in a T20 tri-nation series later this month. The tournament, set entirely in Sharjah, begins on August 29 and will feature seven matches leading up to a highly anticipated final.

Each team will play the other twice, with the top two sides progressing to the final. All matches will be played at Sharjah Cricket Stadium, a familiar venue for hosting high-profile international cricket fixtures.

Sharjah Cricket Stadium has been selected as the sole venue for the series, reflecting the UAE’s growing prominence as a neutral hub for international cricket. The ground is expected to see competitive action as teams refine their playing XIs and strategies.

Meanwhile, Pakistan is currently engaged in a T20I series against the West Indies in the United States, giving its squad ongoing match experience. Star pacer Shaheen Afridi and other key players are expected to feature prominently in the upcoming tri-series as Pakistan fine-tunes its World Cup strategy.

While Pakistan and Afghanistan are already qualified for the global tournament, UAE is still seeking a berth. The home side will participate in the ICC Asia-East Asia & Pacific Qualifiers in Oman this October. This tri-series offers UAE valuable practice against higher-ranked teams and a chance to test squad depth in competitive conditions.

Following the tri-series, the Asia Cup 2025 will also take place in the UAE, beginning on September 9, with Afghanistan facing Hong Kong in the opening match. The back-to-back tournaments position the UAE as a central host for Asian cricket this season.
