Ukraine Ceasefire Talks Advance as Allies Push for Peace, Says Starmer
UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer has announced that efforts to establish a ceasefire in Ukraine have entered an operational phase, urging for immediate action to end hostilities.
Following high-level discussions with NATO, the European Commission, and international allies, Starmer accused Russian President Vladimir Putin of prolonging the war. He stated that “Putin will eventually have to negotiate,” stressing the urgency of stopping the violence that has persisted for over three years.
The coalition, including France, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, reaffirmed their commitment to Ukraine by strengthening military aid and imposing further economic restrictions on Russia. Starmer emphasized that global partners would maintain pressure to ensure a sustainable ceasefire backed by long-term security measures.
With fresh diplomatic momentum, the UK and its allies are working on a structured framework to transition from temporary ceasefire discussions to a lasting peace settlement.
