US Imposes Sanctions on Entities in Iran, China, UAE
The United States has imposed new sanctions on entities and individuals in Iran, China, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for allegedly assisting Tehran in its weapons procurement efforts. This action, announced by the US Treasury Department, is part of President Donald Trump’s ongoing strategy to increase pressure on the Iranian regime.
The sanctions target six entities and two individuals, accused of being involved in acquiring components for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) on behalf of Iran’s drone program. These sanctions are part of a broader effort to disrupt Iran’s military-industrial complex and its role in proliferating weapons, including UAVs and missiles.
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent expressed concern over the proliferation of Iranian UAVs and missiles, which are often supplied to Iran’s terrorist proxies in the region and to Russia for use in its war against Ukraine.
The sanctioned entities include one based in Iran, two individuals from Iran, one entity in China, and four companies operating out of the UAE. These measures mark the second round of sanctions targeting Iran’s weapons proliferators since Trump revived his “maximum pressure” campaign, aimed at curbing Iran’s nuclear ambitions and limiting its military capabilities.
