The United States has launched a series of airstrikes on Houthi-controlled Sanaa, Yemen’s capital, in response to continued Houthi attacks on Red Sea shipping routes.

According to the Houthi-run health ministry, at least nine civilians have been killed and several others injured in the ongoing strikes. The military operation marks one of the largest US interventions in the Middle East in recent years, coinciding with Washington’s broader efforts to counter Iran, the Houthis’ primary backer.

US Strikes Target Houthi Strongholds – The airstrikes, launched late Saturday evening, targeted military installations and missile launch sites used by the Iran-aligned Houthis to disrupt international maritime trade.

Escalation in Red Sea Conflict – The Houthis have been accused of launching drone and missile attacks on commercial and military vessels in the Red Sea, posing a threat to global shipping routes.
