US Military Judge Resumes Deal with 9/11 Alleged Mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed

U.S. military judge has reinstated a deal involving Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the alleged mastermind of the 9/11 attacks, and two other suspects. This decision comes after U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin had previously ordered the cancellation of the agreement three months ago.

The deal, which was initially struck to allow the suspects to plead guilty in exchange for a promise not to seek the death penalty, was reinstated by Air Force Colonel and Judge Matthew McCall. In his ruling, Judge McCall affirmed that the agreements with the three accused are legitimate and should be honored.

The prosecution now has the option to appeal this decision, though it remains unclear whether they will proceed with such an action.

Reports suggest that if the prosecution refrains from seeking the death penalty, the three men—Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, Walid Muhammad Saleh Mubarak Bin Attash, and Mustafa Ahmed Adam al-Hawsawi—are prepared to admit their involvement in the attacks.

The Pentagon has confirmed it is reviewing the ruling but offered no further comments. The case has drawn significant attention, as these men have been held at Guantanamo Bay for years without trial, accused of orchestrating the devastating 9/11 terrorist attacks.
