US Pressures Iran for Nuclear Deal as Military Threat Looms

The Trump administration is intensifying efforts to push Iran into direct negotiations while keeping military action on the table, according to US officials.

A recent report from Axios revealed that President Trump has given Iran a two-month deadline to reach a new nuclear agreement, warning of severe consequences if Tehran continues its nuclear program. Sources close to the White House confirmed that Trump does not want prolonged negotiations and expects Iran to make a decision soon.

National Security Advisor Mike Waltz reinforced this stance, demanding that Iran abandon its nuclear ambitions, missile development, and uranium enrichment or face “a full range of consequences.”

While the White House has not officially confirmed a deadline, analysts suggest that Trump’s strategy is designed to force Iran into a decisive stance. Brian Katulis, a senior fellow at the Middle East Institute, emphasized that Iran is at a crossroads regarding its nuclear program and regional influence, while Washington is demanding a clearer response.

Military action remains a possibility, with Patrick Clawson of the Washington Institute for Near East Policy noting that Trump is determined to secure major diplomatic victories, including in Ukraine, Lebanon, Gaza, and Iran.

With the summer deadline approaching, Iran faces mounting pressure to engage in serious negotiations or risk significant US retaliation.
