The United States clinched their second consecutive United Cup title, defeating Poland 2-0 in the final. Coco Gauff set the tone with a dominant 6-4, 6-4 win over world number two Iga Świątek, reaffirming her form ahead of the Australian Open.
Gauff’s victory was particularly significant, marking her second straight win over Świątek, following her success at the WTA Finals in November. The 19-year-old American, who finished the event undefeated, has sent a strong message to her rivals as the season’s first Grand Slam looms.
Taylor Fritz then delivered the decisive blow, overcoming Poland’s Hubert Hurkacz in a gripping men’s singles encounter. After splitting the first two sets, Fritz held his nerve in a tense final set tiebreak, clinching a 6-4, 5-7, 7-6 (7/4) victory to seal the overall triumph for Team USA.
With this win, the US cemented their status as the dominant force in the United Cup, having only dropped two sets across 14 rubbers during the tournament. The victory marks their second consecutive title after their win in the tournament’s inaugural year in 2023.
