US, Ukraine, and Russia to Hold Peace Talks in Saudi Arabia Next Week: Trump
Senior officials from the United States, Ukraine, and Russia will meet in Saudi Arabia next week to discuss a resolution to the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict, President Donald Trump confirmed.
Trump stated that the leaders of the three nations will not attend, but high-ranking representatives will engage in diplomatic negotiations aimed at ending the war. The announcement follows separate phone calls between Trump, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
“That war is a horrible war. It’s a vicious, bloody war. We want to end it,” Trump said while addressing the media alongside Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The U.S. president described his conversation with Putin as constructive, stating that the Russian leader appeared willing to explore peace talks. Trump also emphasized that Putin expressed interest in ending the war, adding that their call had “gone a long way toward getting a solution.”
Saudi Arabia, which has previously mediated prisoner exchanges and ceasefire discussions between Moscow and Kyiv, will host the meeting. No official statement has been released by the Saudi government, but sources suggest the Kingdom will act as a neutral facilitator.
The upcoming talks have sparked international reactions, with European Union and NATO officials expressing caution regarding potential diplomatic compromises. Ukrainian leadership has reiterated that any peace agreement must align with its territorial integrity and sovereignty.
The Saudi-hosted negotiations could play a significant role in shaping the future of the conflict. While details on the agenda remain undisclosed, diplomatic observers see the meeting as a critical step in exploring a ceasefire and potential political resolution.
