US Weapons Left in Afghanistan a Concern for Pakistan: Foreign Office

Reported By Syed Farzand Ali

Pakistan has expressed deep concern over the presence of advanced US weaponry left behind in Afghanistan after the withdrawal of American forces in August 2021, stating that it poses a serious threat to Pakistan’s security and its citizens.

In a statement issued by the Foreign Office spokesperson, it was emphasized that the issue of leftover US military equipment has been a matter of significant concern.

The spokesperson further highlighted that following the US military’s withdrawal from Afghanistan in August 2021, a large cache of advanced weaponry remained in the country.

According to the Foreign Office, various terrorist organizations, including Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), have been using these weapons to carry out attacks within Pakistan.

“We have consistently urged the de facto authorities in Kabul to ensure that these weapons do not fall into the wrong hands,” the spokesperson stated.
