Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan Finalize Landmark Border Agreement
Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan have signed a historic trilateral agreement to finalize the demarcation of shared borders, resolving long-standing territorial disputes and paving the way for stronger regional cooperation.
The agreement was reached during a summit held in Tashkent, attended by the presidents and senior officials from all three Central Asian nations. The pact outlines finalized border lines, establishes clear checkpoints, and introduces joint mechanisms to ensure peaceful border management and dispute resolution.
According to officials, over 95% of the previously contested border zones have now been formally agreed upon. The remaining sections will be addressed through continued diplomatic dialogue under a newly formed Trilateral Border Commission.
Leaders of the three nations emphasized that the agreement reflects a commitment to stability, economic development, and good neighborly relations. The move is also expected to boost cross-border trade, improve infrastructure, and strengthen security cooperation.
The implementation phase of the agreement will begin immediately, with coordinated efforts to upgrade customs facilities and improve local connectivity in the border regions.
This landmark accord is being seen as a turning point in Central Asian diplomacy, signaling a shared vision of prosperity and unity among Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan.
