Vatican Rejects US Proposal to Relocate Palestinians, Calls for Their Right to Stay

The Holy See has strongly opposed any forced relocation of Palestinians, emphasizing that the Palestinian population must remain in its land, Vatican Secretary of State Pietro Parolin said on Thursday.

Speaking at a summit between Italy and the Vatican, Parolin rejected US President Donald Trump’s reported proposal to resettle Palestinians from Gaza in other countries.

He further warned that any forced displacement would exacerbate tensions in the region, echoing concerns raised by Italian officials about the potential consequences of such a move.

Parolin’s remarks come in response to Trump’s controversial plan to take over Gaza and relocate its residents. The proposal has already sparked widespread condemnation, with global leaders stressing that any resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict must respect international law and human rights.

The Vatican has long advocated for peace in the Middle East, calling for a just and sustainable solution to the conflict that upholds the rights and dignity of Palestinians.
