Venezuelan President Maduro Assassination Plot Foiled, 6 Foreign Nationals Arrested

Six foreign nationals have been arrested in connection with a plot to assassinate Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.

Venezuela’s Interior Minister, Diosdado Cabello, announced on state television that the arrested individuals include three Americans, two Spaniards, and one Czech citizen. They are accused of being on a mission to assassinate President Maduro.

Cabello alleged that the U.S. intelligence agency, CIA, is behind the plot. During the televised statement, the minister also displayed weapons that were reportedly confiscated from these foreign nationals.

Among those arrested is U.S. Navy SEAL officer Wilbert Joseph Castaneda Gomez, who has served in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Colombia. The U.S. State Department confirmed the arrest of the three Americans, but the Spanish embassy in Venezuela has declined to comment.
