CLEARWATER, FLORIDA – Hulk Hogan, the towering figure who defined professional wrestling for a generation, has died at the age of 71 following a cardiac arrest at his home in Clearwater, Florida. The news was confirmed by his longtime manager, Chris Volo, who stated that Hogan passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family.

Terry Gene Bollea, better known to the world as Hulk Hogan, died surrounded by his loved ones, according to longtime manager Chris Volo, who spoke to NBC Los Angeles.

Speculation over Hogan’s health had intensified in recent weeks, amid reports of hospitalization. Last week, his wife Sky Hogan had dismissed rumors that he had slipped into a coma, assuring fans his heart was “strong” following multiple surgeries. Unfortunately, the wrestling legend succumbed to cardiac complications.

Instantly recognizable by his blonde handlebar mustache, bandana, and booming charisma, Hogan became a household name during the 1980s wrestling boom. His larger-than-life persona helped Worldwide Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) reach unprecedented global popularity.

“WWE is saddened to learn WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan has passed away,” the company said in a statement on X (formerly Twitter). “One of pop culture’s most recognizable figures, Hogan helped WWE achieve global recognition in the 1980s. WWE extends its condolences to Hogan’s family, friends, and fans.”

In 1996, Hogan rebranded himself as Hollywood Hulk Hogan and co-founded the revolutionary New World Order (NWO) faction in WCW, further cementing his legacy in wrestling.

He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2005, but his reputation took a major hit in 2015 after a private recording surfaced in which he made racist remarks, prompting WWE to sever ties. Hogan sued Gawker Media over the leak and was awarded millions, leading to the site’s collapse.

He was reinstated into the Hall of Fame in 2020 and later emerged as a vocal supporter of Donald Trump, famously appearing at the 2024 Republican National Convention.

Hogan also enjoyed a successful career in Hollywood. He played Thunderlips in Rocky III (1982) and starred in other fan-favorite films including No Holds Barred, Mr. Nanny, and Suburban Commando. From 2005 to 2007, he and his family starred in the VH1 reality show Hogan Knows Best, offering a glimpse into his off-camera life.
