Yemen Calls for Stronger Global Response to Contain Houthi Threat
The Yemeni government is urging broader international cooperation to curb Houthi militia activities, following intensified U.S. airstrikes targeting their positions.
Brig. Gen. Tareq Saleh, a member of Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), has called for a comprehensive strategy to cut off Houthi funding sources and limit their growing influence. His appeal follows recent U.S. strikes on Houthi targets in Hodeidah and al-Jawf provinces, aimed at countering their escalating attacks on Red Sea shipping lanes.
U.S. President Donald Trump has reaffirmed Washington’s commitment to targeting Houthi military infrastructure while ensuring precision strikes to limit humanitarian fallout. The U.S. Central Command continues to monitor Houthi operations, reinforcing its stance against the Iran-backed group.
Meanwhile, Houthi forces have claimed responsibility for a second missile and drone attack on the USS Harry S. Truman in the Red Sea. The group’s military spokesperson, Yahya Sarea, has warned of further escalation if foreign interventions persist.
With the Houthis expanding their reach beyond Yemen, officials stress that global security and regional stability depend on a unified, long-term approach to isolating and dismantling the group’s influence.
