Zoran Milanović Begins Second Term as President of Croatia

Zoran Milanović has officially begun his second term as the President of Croatia following a formal inauguration ceremony in Zagreb. Milanović, who first took office in 2020, secured re-election after a decisive victory in the recent presidential elections.

In his inaugural address, Milanović reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening democracy, upholding the rule of law, and advancing Croatia’s position within the European Union and NATO. He emphasized the need for economic stability, social justice, and continued regional cooperation in the Balkans.

Milanović outlined key areas of focus for his second term, including:

  • Economic Growth & EU Integration – Strengthening Croatia’s economy through investment in technology, tourism, and sustainable development while deepening ties with the European Union.
  • Defense & Security – Enhancing Croatia’s role in NATO and ensuring national security amid growing geopolitical tensions.
  • Judicial & Institutional Reforms – Improving transparency, tackling corruption, and promoting judicial independence.
  • Social Policies – Advocating for workers’ rights, improving healthcare, and addressing demographic challenges such as population decline.

Milanović’s second term begins at a time of political tension, with frequent clashes between his office and the government, led by Prime Minister Andrej Plenković. Despite their differing political views, Milanović has vowed to work towards national unity and political stability.

His leadership will also be tested on the international stage, as Croatia navigates its role in EU policymaking, relations with neighboring countries, and global economic challenges.

With a renewed mandate, Milanović aims to solidify his political legacy while addressing the evolving needs of Croatia and its people.
